The rapid development of information technology has put forward high level ofinformation security. In particular, information deep-hiding has been driving longresearch efforts in material science, communication technology and cryptology toimprove the information security. Stimuli-responsive luminescent (SRL) materials show great potential in information deep-hiding by generating responsive fluorescent signals to external stimuli such as mechanical force, light, temperature, acidic or alkaline reagents. In comparison with the color-changing materials, SRL materials possessing fluorescence turn-on abilities show the advantages of high contrast ratio and high signal - to-noise ratio, which receive great attention but still challenging. Herein, the development of fluorescence turn-on typed SRL materials in recent five years were systematically reviewed, and the mechanisms from molecular structure-change toaggregation structure-transition were summarized. We hope to provide new insights in the design, preparation, and application of high-performance stimul i-responsiveluminescent materials.
