The single abrasive grinding wheel with a diameter of 400 mm was employed in the process of grinding AISI 1045 steel at various grinding parameters.The grinding force was monitored by Kistler 9119 AA2 three-dimensional dynamometer, the surface quality and the chip morphology were observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) .The influences of grinding parameters on grinding force were studied, and the effects of grinding speed on surface quality and chip morphology were analyzed.The experimental results indicate that:grinding parameters have a significant influence on grinding force, grinding force increases with grinding depth, but decreases with the increase in grinding velocity and cutting angle of abrasives;normally, the faster the grinding speed, the more qualified the workpiece surface, and the less presence of the burr;negative rake angle induces two types of chip morphology, curly and spiral.
