abstract:
Enhancement of intergroup synchronization in a ring configuration constructed by four chaotic laser diodes(LDs) was numerically demonstrated in this paper. These four LDs are divided into two groups, each of which consists of two non-adjacent lasers with the same optical frequency(wavelength). Their intergroup synchronization performances under symmetric and asymmetric coupling structures were studied. Results indicate that the intergroup synchronization coefficient(SC) in the symmetric structure has a saturation value, which displays a plateau ranging from 0.8 to 0.9. By contrast, in the asymmetric structure, the SC can be enhanced beyond 0.9 and to 0.98 in maximum. Moreover, its robust range with SC beyond 0.9 can be up to dozens of GHz. Analysis indicates this is physically attributed to the injection-locking effects caused by asymmetric coupling of chaotic LDs between different groups.
