abstract:
In this study,the stress concentration characteristics of the weld toe of tube in joints were studied by conducting experiments and finite element analysis.The results show that the vertical stress,radial stress and hoop stress on the weld toe of tube were all tensile stress.The vertical stress was the highest one,the hoop one was about half of the vertical one,the radial one is the lowest.The hot spot stress of the weld toe of tube increased with increase of outer diameter of hollow sphere and thickness of tube.It decreased with increasing thickness of hollow sphere,outer diameter of tube,and size of fillet weld.A formula was developed for calculating the hot spot stress concentration factor of the weld toe of tube,which is helpful for the fatigue design method of the weld toe of tube in the welded hollow spherical joint using the hot spot stress amplitude as a parameter.
