abstract:
In order to facily determine the ultimate lateral bearing capacity of single flexible pile, the theoretical formulas of coefficient of earth pressure and the friction coefficient of horizontal differential enements and the improved calculation method of ultimate lateral bearing capacity of single flexible pile were established on the basis of the soil arching effect of wedge failure, major principal stress arching, Mohr-Coulomb strength criterion, and horizontal differential enements, by replacing flexible long pile with rigid short pile. The results obtained by the calculation method show great aggrement with the test results, with an average error of only 2.9%. The method develoged in this work has a certain reference significance for the determination of the bearing capacity of single flexible pile.
