abstract:
Ballistic pendulum system was used to investigate the deformation/failure modes of corrugated and honeycomb sandwich panels under air blast experimentally.By changing explosive quantity and explosive position, different loading impulse applied on the panels were obtained, and the deformation failure mode of face sheet and core were analyzed.The experimental results show that when the blast loading and core average density keep constant, trapezoidal corrugated core exhibits weaker energy absorption ability than honeycomb core, thus the corrugated sandwich plate produces larger residual deformation.Corrugated and honeycomb cores show similar deformation/failure modes, but in large impulse, shear deformation of corrugated core is more apparent near the boundary.The experimental results are of guidance for the application of corrugated and honeycomb sandwich panels in blast-resistance structures.
