    abstract:
    In this paper, the developed model, based on the principle of the entire cell RC circuit, was utilized to probe cell impedance response, so as to reveal the reason that the changes in electrical properties of intracellular components lead to alterations in overall impedance of the system. The results show that the impedance response of the system is highly influenced by alterations in cell membrane capacitance and resistance, cell-cell resistance, cell-electrode resistance. This study provides an in-depth theoretical basis for characterization of cell functions from the perspective of cell electrical properties, and provides an effective guidance to selecting appropriate frequency for impedance testing.
