abstract:
Geoheritage features and tourism exploitation values of Xixian Loess National Geopark of Shanxi Province was studied in detail. The park is divided into two parts, Doupo and Wucheng, with a total area of 61.83 km2. The park is mainly covered by loess, with the Triassic, Neogene, and Quaternary exposed. The 48 geoheritages found in the park are divided into 5 super categories, 8 categories and 10 subcategories, including 4 at the national level, 6 at the provincial level and 38 at the sub-provincial level. Among them, there are 38 loess landscapes, accounting for 79.2% of all the geoheritages. The Liushugou section in the park is the Stratotype section for the Wucheng Formation, and the loess-paleosol sequences are significant element to study the genesis, paleoclimatology, paleoenvironment and paleoecosystem evolution of the Quaternary loess. On the other hand, the park has a complete range of loess landforms, forming a typical and unique color loess landform landscape in China and even in the world, which has a high aesthetic value and highlights the unique charm of the loess plateau.
