    abstract:
【Purposes】 Geomorphology is the most important physical geographical element of the Earth's surface system, and its morphological division is of great significance to the study of geospatial differentiation. 【Methods】 Xishan mining area in Shanxi Province was taken as the research area, on the basis of the ALOS 12.5 m DEM data of the area, the optimum analysis window of the relief amplitude was determined to be 13×13 (0.026 4 km2) according to the window increment analysis and mean-variation analysis. The optimal terrain factors, such as relief amplitude, elevation, slope, surface incision, and surface roughness were obtained by correlation analysis. The distribution of typical terrain factors was obtained by regional statistical analysis, and combined with superposition analysis, 30 geomorphic types were extracted in Xishan mining area, among which shallow cut steep and small undulating mountain was the main geomorphic, accounting for 21.23% of the total area. 【Findings】 By comparing with the number of map spots and geomorphic classification boundary of 1∶1 000 000 geomorphic type map, it was concluded that 21 geomorphic types and 296 map spots were added, and the classification boundary was more accurate, which verified the reliability and feasibility of the research results. 【Conclusions】 The landform classification method in this study is more scientific and feasible than before, which provids data reference for further study on disaster prevention, development, and utilization in Xishan mining area.
