    In order to study the methods and systems of flood management in traditional villages and to explore the wisdom and experience behind the water system level of traditional Chinese villages. Taking Hougou Village, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province as an example, this article focuses on the analysis of the ancient village water management system based on the traditional ecological wisdom guided by the traditional ecological wisdom, and clarifies itsadjust measures to local conditions, Ladder distributionsite selection method,open and dark discharge, hierarchical flood dischargeflood management system, andsource on-site, make best use of materialsflood discharge and storage methods. Through field investigation and theoretical analysis, it is found that the existing rainwater treatment methods in Hougou Village coincides with the concept of todays sponge city, and it also provides valuable wisdom and experience for the protection and revitalization of traditional villages in the future.
