    abstract:

White organic light-emitting diode (WOLED) is of growing interest because of its potential applications in full-color displays and solid-state lighting sources. Now,it is still a big challenge, for a simplified WOLED,to realize low cost and high color rendering index (CRI) simultaneously. In this work,by introducing a broad spectrum yellow-green exciplex (4,4',4"-tris [3-methylphenyl-(phenyl)aminotriphenylamine,m-MTDATA:2,2',2"-(1,3,5-benzenetriyl) tris-[1-phenyl-1H-benzimidazole,TPBi),and combining a blue emission of the electron transport material (Bis[2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-pyridine]beryllium,Bepp2),a highly simplified two-color WOLED was fabricated. And a maximum CRI of 80 is achieved, which is attributed to a balanced distribution of excitons in different emissive zones via an artful device structure. Moreover, the simplified device structure also induces a low cost. This new design concept opens a new avenue for achieving high performance WOLEDs with simple structures, which has a great and deep reality-oriented meaning for commercial lighting of WOLEDs.
