    In order to solve the problem of the difficulty in controlling roadway in high stress environment of island working face, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation were used to investigate the stress distribution law of island working face, analyze the pressure relief mechanism of roadway drilling, and optimize the drilling parameters. The research results show that: the stress rise areas on both sides of the island face were symmetrically distributed; The mining roadway was in the stress peak area, the vertical stress was large, the deformation was large, and the overall instability was easy to occur; The fracture zone released and transferred energy, while changing the physical properties of the surrounding rocks to avoid energy accumulation; The drilling pressure relief technology and parameters of the mining roadway in the island working face were proposed, the borehole length was 10 m, the borehole spacing was 1.2 m, and the borehole diameter was 120 mm. The field measurement showed that the surrounding rock of the roadway has a good control effect, and the pressure relief drilling can play a role of pressure relief and energy release.
